Robb Stauber

Head Coach of  the 2018 U.S. Women's Hockey Olympic Gold Medal Championship Team

High School: 1984-1986 Duluth Denfeld High School

      Started every game from 1984-1986.

      Voted Team MVP in his Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years.

      1986 Lead Duluth Denfeld to its first ever State Tournament.

      All-State Goalie in 1986.

      Drafted by the LA Kings in June 1986

      1986 Selected to USA World Junior Team

      First appearance in the NCAA Final Four

 1987-1988

      First ever goalie to win the Hobey Baker Award

      W.C.H.A. League Champions

      Second appearance in the NCAA Final Four

      Team MVP

      W.C.H.A. Goalie and Player of the Year

      Selected as an All-American Player

1988-1989

      Hobey Baker Finalist (Runner-up)

      W.C.H.A. League Champions

      Third appearance in the NCAA Final Four

      W.C.H.A. Player of the Year

      Selected to USA World Championship Team

      Turned professional in June of 1989 with the Los Angeles Kings

Professional Career Highlights: 1989-1999

      1992-1993: Member of the LA Kings Stanley Cup Finalist Team (first in team history)

      1995: Became third goalie in A.H.L. History to score a goal

      1996: Traded to Buffalo Sabres

      1996-1997: Voted to the A.H.L. All-Star Team while playing with the Portland Pirates

      1997-1998: Voted to the A.H.L. All-Star Team while playing with the Hartford Wolf-Pack

      1998-1999: Retired while playing for the Manitoba Moose of the I.H.L.

      Robb’s goalies were voted: Most Improved Player in the country, finalists of the Patty Kazmaier Award,

      as the Top Female Player in the country.  

 

Post-Playing Awards:

      1997: Inducted into the University of Minnesota Gopher Sports Hall of Fame.

      2005:Named to the Top 50 Players of All Time by the W.C.H.A.

 

Goalcrease History: 1986-Present

      In 1986 Robb worked for Warren Strelow and Paul Otsby, “Strelow/Otsby Goalie Camps”.

            Warren-Strelow coached the University of Minnesota goalies to three NCAA titles.

            Warren also coached the 1980 US Olympic Gold Medal Goalies.

      From 1994-2001 Robb partnered with Paul Otsby and created the Stauber/Otsby Goalie Camps.

      In 2002 Robb created Stauber’s Goalcrease.

Robb's daughter Ruby ran track for LSU and his son Jaxson is a goalie with the NHL's Utah Hockey Club organization.
