Doing it right repeatedly...it's not a new concept.
What's the 'right technique' for a goalie? It's widely accepted
that no matter what style a goalie uses, the more they put of themselves,
and their equipment, in front of the shot the higher the odds are
that the goalie will make the save. And, that's just what the Staubar
Trainer accomplishes...it puts more of the goalie in front of the
shot...which ultimately creates "high percentage" goalies.
Specifically,
the Staubar Trainer is designed to "force" goalies into
the habit of moving everything they've got squarely in front of
the shot. In fact, the Staubar makes it anatomically impossible
for the goalie to move any other way. It's simple, when wearing
the Staubar in practice, the goalie can't repeat improper technique,
get lazy, or rely on their athleticism to flick out a glove or blocker.
The Staubar Trainer trains good sound habits and technique... eventually
making it comfortable and reflexive to move the entire body squarely
toward the puck. By regularly incorporating the Staubar into practice
sessions, proper technique becomes a reflex that proceeds without
control of the goalies conscious brain. It becomes a reflex
that just begins to 'feel right'.
Putting nerve cells in the spinal cord and receptors in the
muscles on autopilot.
Training with the Staubar creates a chain reaction of energy efficient
kinetic movements. Movements which 'feel right' and put a goalie
in the best possible position to stop the puck. This how the Staubar
Trainer works:
INITIATION: When wearing the Staubar, the goalie must initiate
every move from the inside edges of their skates.
DRIVE: Pushing off the inside edges forces the knees to
bend and drives the legs toward the puck.
SQUARE: The leg drive forces the goalie's body and shoulders
to move square to the puck and the Staubar forces the goalie's hands
into positions squarely in front of the body.
POSITION: When body and equipment are square to the puckwith
the hands squarely in front of the bodythe goalie is in the
best "high percentage" position to cover more net and
block more pucks.
HANDS: Because the Staubar forces the hands in front of
the body, the goalie is cutting down shooting angles. Plus, the
hands are in position to poke-check, react to tipped shots and control
rebounds.
BALANCE: With a square stance and hands in front, the goalie
is balanced and ready to make the initial save, as well as, prepared
to move in any direction to cover a rebound.
MEMORY: Muscles have memory. And muscle memory gets stronger
through repetition. That's why training with the Staubar regularly,
turns proper technique into reflexive habit.
