. . . quality over quantity . . . if it's worth doing, it's worth
doing right . . . individual focus takes into account different
learning styles, as well as different playing styles . . . praise
and a positive environment promotes learning.
These
beliefs translate to a maximum 3-to-1 student to instructor ratio.
It means a goalie might not get 1000's of shots during a five day
session. Instead, they may get only 500 because Goalcrease Summer
Academy instructors will be constantly teaching, demonstrating,
reinforcing personal strengths, and constructively correcting mistakes
in the fundamentals as soon as theyre spotted.
It
also means that every certified Goalcrease trainer is carefully
and thoughtfully taught to achieve specific training goals:
- Create a positive learning environment
- Treat each student respectfully and individually
- Expect respectful behavior from each student
- Accommodate and teach different goalkeeping styles and when
to use
- Enhance and reinforce each goalies individual strengths
- Focus on the basic fundamentals of goalkeeping
- Repeat those basic fundamentals
- Provide immediate correction constructively
- Turn the basic fundamentals into habit
- Turn hockey lessons into life's lessons when applicable and/or
appropriate
