General Background:
Jim grew up in Mendota Heights, MN and grew up playing for Mend-Eagan association.. He grew up in a family surrounded by hockey and goaltenders.
Hockey Background:
Youth Hockey:
- Started playing hockey at the age of 4.
- Took over goalie duties at the age of 12.
- Jim still has the puck from his first shut-out.
High School
- Jim attended Henry Sibley High School from 1997-2000 and transferred to Shakopee High School his senior year.
- Jim lettered in varsity hockey all four years of high school.
- At Sibley, Jim played 1 year of Jr. Varsity and 2 years of Varsity before transferring to Shakopee High School where he started every varsity game.
- Jim’s favorite high school hockey memory was making 56 saves in a thrilling 3-2 double overtime win over Orono during the Section semi-finals.
- In 2001, Jim was named All-Conference, All-state honorable mention, and selected team MVP.
Beyond High School:
- Jim played 1.5 seasons of junior hockey in the MJHL for the South Suburban Steers (now known as the Twin Cities Northern Lights).
- While attending Minnesota State University Mankato Jim played with the University Club team along with intramurals and men’s league teams.
Goalcrease History:
- Jim took over as the pro shop and equipment manager in late 2009.
- Jim is a gear tester for many of the major brands. He knows more about goalie equipment then any one person should.
- Jim hopes to one day become a goalie gear designer.
Current Life and Hockey Highlights:
- Jim graduated from MNSU in 2009 with degrees in Automotive Engineering and Manufacture Engineering.
- Jim currently resides in Burnsville with his girlfriend Jenn.
