Nate Ziemski

General Background:

Nate grew up in Duluth Minnesota. He always had a love for hockey, and started playing at age 5.


Hockey Background:

Youth Hockey:

* Nate started playing goalie at age 6.
* He played two years of Squirt A hockey.
* Nate continued to play 2 years of Pee-Wee and Bantam A hockey.

High School:

* Nate attended Duluth Central High School from 1992-1996.
* Nate spent 3 years as the varsity goaltender, from 1993-1996.
* In 1996 his team was a part of the Class A State Tournament.
* Nate was named the Team MVP in 1996.

Beyond High School:

* After High School Nate had a very exciting college and professional career.
* In the 1996-1997 season Nate plays for the National Championship team for the Minneapolis Jr. Kodiaks.
* In 1997-98 Nate played for the Waterloo Blackhawks of the USHL and the Gaylord Grizzlies of the NAHL
* Nate played for the Cortland State Red Dragons of New York Division III from 1998-1999.

In 1999 Nate began attending and goaltending for the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellow Jackets (Div. III)

* While at UWS, Nate made three Final Four appearances.
* Nate is a two-time All American, in 2001 and 2003.
* In 2002 his team won the National Championship
* In 2003 Nate was named the Team MVP and the school Athlete of the Year.
* Nate was named the 2003 Scholar Athlete of the Year for WIAC and NCHA.

After playing for the University of Wisconsin-Superior Nate played WHA2 Minor Pro

* Nate played for the Jacksonville Barracudas from 2003-2004.
* In 2003-2004 the Barracudas became the League and Playoff Champions

Goalcrease History:

* Nate became a certified Goalcrease instructor in 2002.
* In 2006 Nate became a full time instructor.

Current Life and Hockey Highlights:

* Nate was the Goaltender Coach for the University of Minnesota Gophers Men's Hockey Team in 2008-2009.
* Nate currently resides in Blaine with his wife, Kelly, and daughter Vivian.
* Nate has completed 10 marathons and counting
* Nate suffered a minor stroke in the spring of 2010. He then underwent surgery to repair a small hole found in his heart.  He is 100% healthy today.
* He enjoys being outdoors, running, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, boating, fishing, and Sturgis Bike Week.
